PROGRAMMES  SUMMARY 

We offer a variety of programmes and instruments. Programmes are customised for each individual student. Children can start at the age of 6

GUITAR:

Beginners

As a beginner you will learn tablature for guitar, how to read notation (optional for adults), how play chords, and you will learn to play songs.  You will also learn how to play the main scales, different rhythm guitar patterns and strumming, as well as exercises for strengthening your fingers, and how to change chords while keeping the strumming even. Once you have completed this level, you will have learned chords, fast changes, picking techniques using fingers and a pluck strum, and you will have built up a good technical level with different styles including rock, and pop music, Spanish, instrumental etc. The student has to commit to a minimum of twenty minutes of daily practice, (adults half an hour minimum). Within the first week you will be playing the chords of a complete song.

Intermediate

At intermediate level you will learn songs and instrumentals of a higher level. You will learn to solo songs and to improvise. Learning a wider variety of scales, technique and styles will increase your skill level and quality of playing. You will have the opportunity to learn rock, blues, heavy metal, light jazz and country etc ... Techniques for electric guitar (bending, hammer, pull-off, sliding etc) are included and at this level, you will have an option to request songs of your choice. Also at this level, you will learn to play with others in a band, and for school students, you will learn music theory to help with your school study and performances, you may become involved in (eg: talent quests or productions).  As you progress, songs for busking or performing live with bands will also be introduced as well as optional voice training exercises for those wishing to build their skills and confidence with singing. 

Advanced

As an advanced student, the variety of styles, songs and techniques taught will increase dramatically (rock, blues, heavy metal, jazz, flamenco, classical, country etc ...  More variety of scales will be introduced along with understanding, by practicing, what the theory behind them is. You will be able to improvise with the different sounds within the scales (ie: using different varieties of a major scale within a song). You will learn a wide range of chord progressions and their theory and will learn to compose music as a complete song (introduction, riffs, melody, chords and solos). As an option at this level you will  learn a full songs programme for performing at gigs, in restaurants etc. You will learn to use a variety of instruments related to guitar (looper, guitar pedal effects, sound setup) and learn to compose backup music. 

Bass: 

The student will develop excellent fretboard technique, rhythmic sense and the confidence to improvise and be part of a band or a bass soloist.

Programme includes:

  • Sight reading

  • Scales

  • Songs in styles of

  • Pop, Blues, Rock, Funk Latin Jazz, Country and Heavy Metal.

Pop and slap techniques, especially in Funk style are included in the programmes as well as compose bass lines and riffs.

Drums:

You will learn a variety of beats common in popular styles, starting from:

  • Rock

  • Blues

  • Funk

  • Jazz Latin

  • Heavy Metal and Mediterranean style drumming

Teaching includes reading drum notation and learning a variety of techniques. Learning the skills of being part of a band is included in the programme.

Keyboard:

Programme includes:
